The ByteDance Server Platform team is tasked with conceptualizing, conceiving, and constructing the most exceptional server and storage systems, optimized for high performance, cost-efficiency, and ease of operation. By joining this team, you will collaborate with the foremost engineers and talents within this domain, gaining extensive exposure to the latest AI application systems and emerging technologies in computing, storage, and silicon validation. As a memory system architect, your obligations will encompass:

  • Delving into memory technology via academic, industry, and partner resources.
  • Pioneering novel memory system architectures (e.g., Memory pooling, Memory sharing) based on cutting-edge memory technologies (e.g., CXL, PMEM).
  • Crafting application benchmarks, utilities, and methodologies for optimizing memory system performance.
  • Formulating a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model for memory systems, grounded in application benchmarks and performance enhancements.
  • Collaborating with industry consortia and open standard committees to scrutinize emerging standards and technologies while contributing our research findings to the field.
  • Collaborating with our technology partners and suppliers to establish Proof of Concepts (POCs) or prototypes for assessing and testing new technologies or architectural designs.

Qualifications

  1. PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
  2. Dissertation topics should revolve around memory system architecture and application performance optimization design, or software-hardware co-design.
  3. Profound comprehension of computer system architecture, particularly in memory systems, IOMMU, NUMA, interleave schemes, and tiered memory systems.
  4. Deep understanding of memory Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS), as well as BIOS and OS memory error management mechanisms, such as MCE and eMAC, among others.
  5. Familiarity with the implementation of virtualization technology, databases, distributed storage systems, and deep learning architectures.

Job Information

For Pay Transparency: Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this role in the designated city is $112,200 – $147,000 per annum.

Compensation may fluctuate beyond this range based on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base salary constitutes one facet of the Total Compensation Package, which includes additional discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units that may be granted.
